Jazzoo, the Kansas City Zoo’s largest fundraiser, could not happen without a dedicated team of volunteers. Volunteering for Jazzoo is a wonderful way to show your support of the Kansas City Zoo. Consider joining us this year! We welcome anyone who has some time to give and wants to help the Zoo’s largest fundraiser.
All volunteers will need to follow the Kansas City Zoo’s COVID-19 policy during their shift.
- The majority of volunteer duties will take place outdoors.
- Following updated recommendations from the CDC and the rescinding of the mayor’s emergency order, the Kansas City Zoo will no longer require face masks anywhere within the Zoo. The CDC does recommend, however, that those who have not been vaccinated continue to keep “a llama’s length” of six feet apart and to wear face masks where that isn’t possible.
- Volunteers will be required to take a health survey one day before their volunteer shift.
- Policy subject to change based on CDC recommendations.
We always do our best to accommodate any special needs for volunteers, just let us know in the comment section of the Volunteer Interest Form. We are always happy to have younger volunteers assist us during the daytime shifts, we only ask that they be with an adult the entire time while volunteering.
Thanks for your interest in volunteering at Jazzoo! Please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and the Jazzoo Volunteers will be in touch with you closer to the event! Please enter your email address and the system will walk you through selecting a time to volunteer! If you have any questions feel free to reach out via email at email@example.com.
We thank you in advance for supporting the Zoo and Jazzoo 2021!
Wednesday, August 18, 3-7pm
Jazzoo needs volunteers who can assist with an inside role at the Zoo which involves prepping and preparing items for the set-up of Jazzoo. The duties on this Work Day will vary depending on what is needed leading up to the event. This is a great opportunity for those who are unable to help during the daytime set-up of Jazzoo.
Thursday, August 26, 9am-5pm
Friday, August 27, 9am -5pm
Volunteers are needed both days. This predominantly outside role involves a variety of items related to set-up. This is the most critical need for volunteers, as they are one of the main reasons we are able to make this event a success each year. This is a great way to experience and appreciate the Zoo – and sneak a peek at some of the animals! Event set-up may include setting up decor, signage, preparing guest areas, restaurant load-in and many other items. If you are able to volunteer a few hours, a 1/2 day or both days we would love to have your help. You will be provided lunch and the work is done rain or shine. It is suggested to wear sunscreen, tennis shoes and a hat.
Saturday, August 28, 7am-12 Noon
One of the most important roles is helping to get organized for 2022 Jazzoo – and it begins with the Saturday morning volunteers. You will spend time at the Zoo before the doors open to the Saturday guests packing up and organizing supplies from this year’s event. This position will be both inside and outside – so dress accordingly!
