Jazzoo, the Kansas City Zoo’s largest fundraiser, could not happen without a dedicated team of volunteers. Volunteering for Jazzoo is a wonderful way to show your support of the Kansas City Zoo. Consider joining us this year as we prepare to for the 20th anniversary Jazzoo!
AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITIES
Preparations
Jazzoo needs volunteers who can assist in preparing for the event and event set up. It is an inside role at the Zoo which involves bagging up paper/plastic restaurant supplies for the many wonderful restaurants at Jazzoo. We will likely also be preparing some of the decorations for the event as well. Finally we will be cleaning out and organizing our various supplies for set up. The date for this will be Sunday, May 23 at noon.
Event Set-up
Volunteers are needed during the day on Thursday, June 3 and Friday June 4 from 9AM until 5PM both days. This predominantly outside role involves a variety of items related to set-up. This is the most critical need for volunteers, as they are one of the main reasons we are able to make this event a success each year. If you would like to be a part of the event set-up, which may include setting up decor, signage, preparing guest areas, restaurant load-in and many other items, email us when you will be available! If you are able to volunteer a few hours, a 1/2 day or both days we would love to have your help. You will be provided lunch and the work is done rain or shine. It is suggested to wear sunscreen, tennis shoes and a hat.
During the Event
We are also looking for a very limited number of volunteers to sell items during the entire evening of Jazzoo. If you are interested, we are looking for individuals who are able to be on their feet for long periods of time, feel comfortable handling cash & love to work with the public! We will also need a couple of individuals who are computer savvy to help enter data as guests arrive. This may also require an additional meeting leading up to the event, all the details are still be determined.
Post-Event Cleanup
Once the event is complete, we still need a little help! Jazzoo needs volunteers who can assist in a quick clean up of the Zoo to ensure it is ready to open for guests on Saturday. There will be heavy duty cleaning crews, so the volunteers will be doing light cleanup. The date for this will be Saturday, June 5, 6am to 9am.
