Volunteer Opportunities

Jazzoo, the Kansas City Zoo’s largest fundraiser, could not happen without a dedicated team of volunteers. Volunteering for Jazzoo is a wonderful way to show your support of the Kansas City Zoo. Consider joining us this year! We welcome anyone who has some time to give and wants to help the Zoo’s largest fundraiser.

Sunday Work Day

Sunday, May 22, 2011 - 10am to 5pm

Jazzoo needs volunteers who can assist with an inside role at the Zoo which involves prepping and preparing items for the set-up of Jazzoo. The duties on this Sunday Work Day will variety depending on what is needed leading up to the event. This is a great opportunity for those who are unable to help during the daytime set-up of Jazzoo.

Event Set-up

Thursday, June 2 - 9am to 5pm
Friday, June 3 - 9am to 5pm

Volunteers are needed both days. This predominantly outside role involves a variety of items related to set-up. This is the most critical need for volunteers, as they are one of the main reasons we are able to make this event a success each year. This is a great way to experience and appreciate the Zoo – and sneak a peek at some of the animals! Event set-up may include setting up decor, signage, preparing guest areas, restaurant load-in and many other items. If you are able to volunteer a few hours, a 1/2 day or both days we would love to have your help. You will be provided lunch and the work is done rain or shine. It is suggested to wear sunscreen, tennis shoes and a hat.

During the Event – Adopt A Wild Child Volunteers

Friday, June 3
Two Shifts: 6:00pm – 8:30pm and/or 8:15 – 10:45pm

Volunteers will assist with selling limited-selection animal adoptions throughout the event. This is a great position for someone who is interested in interacting with the guests and being a part of the fun! Volunteers will be selling “Adopt a Wild Child” sponsorship to feed the animals. Your job will be to sell these items to the party-goers. You will have a quota to meet. We have two shift times available either 6:00pm - 8:30pm or 8:15pm-10:45pm. Dress for the volunteer event is Creative Black Tie. You must be able to attend an orientation meeting on Thursday, June 2nd at 6pm at the Zoo in order to assist the evening of the event.

We always do our best to accommodate any special needs for volunteers, just let us know in the comment section of the Volunteer Interest Form. We are always happy to have younger volunteers assist us during the daytime shifts, we only ask that they be with an adult the entire time while volunteering. For those interested in volunteering during the Event, you must be at least 21 years old.
